Initially intended for release in 2002, The Diary was shelved by its parent label, which led to Yancey’s break with the major label system and instigated his migration to California to embark on the extremely fertile period that followed (which encompassed the making of the canonical classics Ruff Draft, Jaylib, and Donuts)…”
